THE WIRE MAGAZINE OPENS ITS LEADER WITH WRITING ON MY NAME IS ALBERT AYLER

In the April issue 2006 The Wire’s editor Chris Bohn opens the magazines leader with writing about the film: “This month, Masthead goes to the movies. First up is My Name Is Albert Ayler, the UK premiere of which The Wire is co-presenting at London’s ICA. … By turns illuminating and heartbreaking, Collin’s film documents Ayler’s formative period in Sweden before he returned to the USA to fire up free jazz amid frighteningly impoverished conditions … completely alters the way you hear and feel the music.”
